In shaa Allah our first event for the Spring 2011 semester will be tomorrow night! Details are below:

Time: 7:15 – 10:00 PM

Location: Islamic Society of Greater Lafayette (7:15 – 8:15 PM) & Beering Building (Purdue University), Room 2290 (8:15 – 10:00 PM)

We encourage youth to meet at the Islamic Society of Greater Lafayette (ISGL) by 7:15 PM. We’ll have a short talk on the topic of jealousy and dealing with this powerful emotion in a positive  manner. The short talk will be followed by a group discussion before Isha prayer. After Isha prayer, we’ll head over to Beering to watch an academy award winning movie which deals with the topic of jealousy (among other issues). What is this movie, you may be wondering?

Our feature presentation for tomorrow night is (duff roll please):

Can these two learn to be friends?

Toy Story, rated PG (Parental Guidance) by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), was created by Disney – Pixar Studios in 1995. The animated tale deals with a competition between two action figures: Woody [a cowboy] and Buzz Ligthyear [space ranger action figure] for the honor of being the top toy in a young boy’s (named Andy) bedroom. Woody has been Andy’s loyal toy for years. Buzz is the nice, new, shiny toy mom gives Andy as a gift. Andy’s family makes the decision to move to a new house. In the process of packing items, Andy’s toys get lost. Can Buzz and Woody put aside their feelings of jealousy towards one another and instead work together to get  back to their owner?

Find out on Friday night!
