Assalamu-alaikum everyone,

Last Friday night’s activity was a blast! Salah and I forgot how much fun “Capture the Flag” was in our childhood days. Last Friday provided a nice flashback to the past. Amr K. and Murtaza S. deserve co-MVP honors for their tremendous performances in leading their respective team(s) to victory multiple times. Tasawwar made an awesome half-court shot (nearly twice in a row) at a critical juncture of one game to free most of his teammates from jail. Congrats to the victors and great sportsmanship displayed by all youth.

On to this Friday’s youth activity. Last semester we held an activity entitled “Italian Night” where the youth collaborated to cook a two-course meal (pasta with two special sauces and grilled cheese sandwiches). In the Summer, the youth prepared homemade ice cream. You can scroll through our old blog post entries to find details of both activities. This Friday, we’ll be stepping back into the kitchen to make…

Ok, you probably figured this out already when you read the title for this post. In case you didn’t read the title beforehand, I hope you enjoyed the dramatic introduction for this week’s activity. To kick things off, we have a special guest speaker (Imam Muhammad Ndiaye from Indianapolis) who will deliver an inspirational talk to the youth about youth mentioned in the Qur’an. The talk will in shaa Allah be after Maghrib prayer (6:50 PM) in the ISGL. After the lecture and Isha prayer are completed, we’ll roll up our sleeves, put on our chef’s hats, and bake pizza. We’ll create a separate post with the recipe we’ll use to make the pizza in case you want to use the recipe for a family activity at home.
