Assalamu-alaikum everyone!

Last Friday night’s homemade pizza night activity was thoroughly educational (and highly entertaining). If you haven’t seen them already, check out the pictures from last Friday’s activity in the post below. The recipe we used for making pizza can be found two posts down. Jazak Allahu Khair to Imam Muhammad from Masjid al-Haqq in Indianapolis for his wonderful talk on “Youth in the Qur’an.” In shaa Allah we hope to have you visit our community again soon.

On to this week’s festivities. This Friday night, we’ll convene at the Islamic Society of Greater Lafayette (ISGL) for Maghrib prayer (6:50 PM). After Maghrib prayer, we’ll have a short discussion with the youth. We’ll remain in the ISGL until Isha prayer is finished. After Isha prayer (8:15 PM) we’ll head over to the Purdue Co-Rec for a fun game of kickball.

Kickball is a pretty simple game involving two evenly-numbered teams (ex. 5 people versus 5 other people). There are four bases (home, first, second, and third bases) and a bouncy, rubber ball (called a kickball). The object of the game is for the team on offense to score as many runs as possible. One team member on defense (called the pitcher) rolls the kickball towards one member of the offensive team who puts the ball into play by kicking it. The offensive player then attempts to run from home base towards first base, to second base, to third base, and finally back to the home base  before the defense has a chance to throw the offensive player out.  The pitcher again rolls the ball to another member of the offensive team who puts the ball into play. The game continue until the defensive team earns three outs. An out is earned by either:

1.) Catching a kicked ball while it is in the air

2.) Throwing and hitting a member of the offensive team before they can safely reach one of the bases

3.) A member of the defensive team touches one of the bases with the kickball in hand before the offensive player can successfully reach that base

Once the defensive team records three outs, the teams switch position (from offense to defense).

Once again, to re-cap the details:
