Assalamu-alaikum (peace be upon you) parents and youngsters,

Rain, rain go away! Come again another day (please, there we asked nicely)! Today marked the third straight youth event where the skies opened up and rain poured mercifully down around us alhamdulillah. Fortunately today’s activity was indoors to begin with otherwise we would have had to deal with some sour-faced youth. Art is an avenue of personal expression and can take many forms from drawing to painting to pottery. Today the young men of the IYG got to experience drawing, painting, AND pottery as they tried to transform a 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch ceramic tile into their very own masterpiece. After being given a blank white tile, a palate of different colored paints, and a few basic rules our young men were off to the races to design the coolest tile the city of West Lafayette had ever seen. What our mentors learned after 2 hours at a pottery studio known as All Fired Up is that we have a few budding artists amongst our youth. Don’t believe us? Well check out the pictures below to see the proof:

Whoa so many pretty colors to choose from...Mohamed, Shujath, Nurideen, and Raad look at the color selection wall in awe.

Sponge Bob's in the house! Shujath displays his amazing drawing skills for us. Now can he paint Mr. Bob without messing up? We think yes!

Mustafa wastes no time attacking the paint. His tilework looks quite amazing, no? Wei, wei!
