Assalamu-alaikum (peace be upon you) fellow blogger, reader, and everyone else in between,

Last week, our youth learned that the Muslim community as a whole (from Australia to the U.S.A to Russia to South Africa) is like one giant body. When any part of that body is hurting, the entire body feels the pain suffered by that one part. The reality is that in today’s current situation, there are many people around the world who are suffering both in lands populated by Muslims and non-Muslims alike. A key lesson from the many life lessons taught to us by Prophet Muhammad, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam (peace be upon him), is that we must show concern and care for anybody who is suffering – from the orphan who has lost their parents to the family who has lost their home due to a natural/manmade disaster. There are a lot of people who could use a helping hand and the members of the IYG are hoping to be there to provide that hand. Our mentors challenged our youth to spend 1-2 weeks researching and learning more about a case they felt a desire to raise awareness and money for. Today was the day our youth presented their cases to their fellow IYG buddies before we decided as a group the top three cases we would try to work on over the remainder of our summer program. From the civil war in Syria to the tornadoes that struck Moore, Oklahoma our youth did a fantastic job shedding light on several cases we all could lend a helping hand to:

To say our mentors were impressed by the presentations prepared by our youth would be a serious understatement. The time, dedication, and effort which went forth in creating each case was quite apparent with each presentation. We look forward to seeing what Team Mali Relief, Team Moore, and Team Syria Relief put forward in the coming weeks with their poster presentations and fundraising efforts. Keep up the great work guys!
